The Centre for Legal affairs has the crucial task of monitoring the legal affairs of Thiruvalluvar University. The Centre undertakes the task of preparing the replies for petitions relating to Right to Information (RTI) in consultation with the Legal Counsel of Thiruvalluvar University.

The Centre is entrusted with the task of obtaining legal opinion from the Legal Counsel in matters relating to legal issues with a view to avoid unnecessary court cases. The Centre pursues the court cases in consultation with the legal counsel and assists the Registrar in conducting the ensuing court cases.
